Preventative Tips for Avoiding a Tire Blowout

Taking a couple minutes out of your day to look more closely at the health of the tire tread could make all the difference in saving you from a potential blowout. Most new vehicles have a tire pressure monitoring system on board that will alert you when the pressure drops in one or more of the tires. If not, you need to use a tire gauge to check the pressure in each tire at least weekly. Underinflated tires can certainly lead to a blowout on the highway.

While you are checking the air pressure in the tires, you can inspect the treads for signs of trouble. Look closer at the treads for any bulges, cracks, or obstructions. If the tread is wearing unevenly, you'll want to get the tire replaced. We have a team ready at Napleton's Autowerks, Inc. (Loves Park) to inspect the tires and take action if there are signs of tire failure. Come to our auto parts shop in Loves Park, IL at the first sign of a failing tire.
